family since 1963

Little Pigs BBQ was founded by Joe and Peggy Swicegood in April 1963. At the time Joe worked at the phone company but always dreamed of having his own business.  Little Pigs was a well known franchise at the time when Joe bought it and opened a location on McDowell St, across from his alma mater, Asheville High School (formerly Lee Edwards High School). A little later, the franchise ceased to exist but the owners of the franchises carried on, keeping the name. This is why you will still see the "Little Pigs" name and similar signs in other parts of the state.

Today, Little Pigs continues the tradition of serving good food at reasonable prices.  It is still family owned by the Swicegood family and independently operated.

For 59 years (as of 2022), Little Pigs Bar-B-Q continues serving Asheville locals, and visitors alike with the best barbeque and chicken! Only a half-mile from the entrance to Biltmore, Little Pigs looks forward to serving you, and your friends and family, in our family's restaurant. Whether it's your first time or your 50th, you will enjoy our warm and inviting atmosphere. Come and experience an Asheville tradition!
